Suffolk born soprano, Alice Howell graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance (2021) where she gained a First Class BMus Honours degree in Music Performance - Voice. She received a bursary award from 'Friends of East Suffolk Performing Arts' to support her degree. Alice has performed in Prague, Germany and in various venues across the UK, including: Symphony Hall in Birmingham; cathedrals in Salisbury, Chichester, Winchester and Leeds; and in churches and theatres in London, Suffolk, Norfolk, Surrey, Hampshire, Wiltshire and West Sussex. She frequently performs as a soloist for wedding ceremonies and funerals.
Choral works, where Alice was the soprano soloist, consist of: Charpentier’s ‘In navititate Domini nostri H.421’, Poulenc's Gloria, Vaughan Williams' 'Serenade to Music' (soprano and alto solos), Beethoven’s Mass in C Major, Philip Ledger’s Requiem, Haydn’s ‘Missa Sancti Nicolai’, Vivaldi’s Gloria in D Major, Mendelssohn’s ‘Hear My Prayer/O for the Wings of a Dove’ and Faure's Requiem. She recently worked as a cantor for Our Lady of Hal Catholic Church, Camden (2023) and in 2018, she was a choral scholar for Arundel Cathedral.
Alice's other recent performances include a range of arias, songs and ensembles in: 'Women in Opera', 'A Night at the Musicals' and 'A Spring Cabaret' in Banstead, 'Carol's Christmas' in Central London, 'The John Nicholson Memorial Concert' at The Actors' Church in Covent Garden and performances with Froxfield Choir, as their frequent soprano soloist.
Alice specialises in classical singing, though also has a background in musical theatre and straight acting training. In addition to this, she has extensive dance training including ballet, pointe work, tap, modern, jazz, contemporary and commercial. She also writes and performs her own songs while accompanying herself on piano and she enjoys writing poetry. Alice has been an adjudicator for the classical singing category of Stars of the Albion Festival & Contest (March 2023). Alice also teaches privately in her home in Halesworth, Suffolk.
