Teaching

Alice has taught my son (aged 9) for over a year.  Alice is a really fun, caring and engaging teacher, supporting my son to learn all the pop songs he loves with a perfect balance of enthusiasm, support and refocusing.  My son has special needs and struggles in mainstream school, very experienced teachers have found it difficult to manage his behaviours but Alice never fails to keep him on track, even on days when he is struggling. I recommend Alice wholeheartedly and think that any student would be extremely lucky to learn from her both in terms of her technical skill and her temperament, which is always calm, patient and friendly.  Amazing coach! Very friendly and easy to get along with. Very knowledgeable, describes everything in detail and patient when you mess up. Encourages you to strive for perfection in a way which makes you feel comfortable and eager. With the year that I've been working with her, I've seen significant improvement  in my singing.  I wanted to improve my technique. Breathing, diction and posture. Alice was able to help in all of these . She helped with reading printed music which indicated when to breath, rise and fall and projecting my voice. This has given me confidence to give recent solo performances. (Barry Newton)

 I have been very lucky to find Alice as my teacher. She is a highly talented soloist and has a beautiful voice. She immediately puts one at ease, and her unfailingly upbeat and positive attitude is uplifting and encouraging. Her teaching method has three major strengths: Alice has a very strong understanding of technique and she has many ways to help with this which seem deceptively simple but are very effective. Her teaching is observant and intuitive, so that she can correctly discern the thought processes that can restrict our voice. As well as improving technique and instilling confidence and awareness, she gives sensitive feedback to develop interpretation and expression, and is absolutely never critical or negative but always empathetic.  I went to Alice in Spring 2022 to learn how to sing rock and pop on karaoke night at my local pub, the Pyro. I found her to be a brilliant teacher - friendly and fun but committed, professional and exacting where needed! I'm delighted with the results - less than a year later I can sing credible (to me!) karaoke versions of some Blondie, Persuaders, Thompson Twins songs; I have a repertoire of 15 songs (and growing) I really love, and a fantastic hobby. I'm sure Alice is also a great teacher of classical singing, but I can say from first hand experience that if you want to channel your inner rock star, Alice is your teacher. Highly recommended.  It is quite difficult to find a good teacher for classical singing, so I was very happy when I found Alice. Alice is super friendly and encouraging.
